About The Village

The Village is a service that helps families coordinate childcare and related support among people they trust. The service lets you create a network of trusted people, post care requests, respond to requests, and confirm arrangements.

Accounts and eligibility

You must be an adult to create an account and use The Village. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for the activity that occurs under your account.

Acceptable use

You agree to use The Village in good faith to coordinate care, and not to misuse the service, interfere with its operation, or use it to harass, harm, or deceive others. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms.

SMS text message program

If you opt in to text notifications, the following terms apply to The Village SMS program:

• Program name: The Village.
• Program description: When you opt in, The Village sends you text notifications in three ways only: a morning update, an evening update, and instant alerts for urgent care requests. Morning and evening updates summarize new care activity (new requests, booking updates) and are not sent as separate additional texts.
• How to opt in: SMS notifications are off by default and are optional — you can use The Village fully without them. During onboarding, and anytime in your account settings, you can choose to opt in by actively checking a consent checkbox and entering your mobile number. Nothing is pre-checked, and you can continue without opting in by choosing "Skip for now." By opting in, you consent to receive recurring automated care-coordination text messages from The Village (a morning update, an evening update, and instant alerts for urgent care requests). Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time.
• Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on your village's activity — typically a few messages per week, and up to roughly 40 per month for active villages, occasionally more. We do not send text messages when there is no new activity. You can reduce texts any time by turning off the morning or evening summary texts in More → Notifications while keeping urgent alerts on.
• Consent is not required to use Village, and is never a condition of any purchase. We do not sell your phone number, and no mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
• Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier's standard message and data rates may apply to messages you send or receive.
• For help, reply HELP to any message, or contact us at elliotkatz6@gmail.com.
• To opt out, reply STOP to any message at any time. After you reply STOP, you will no longer receive SMS messages from The Village. You can opt back in at any time by re-enabling SMS notifications in your account settings.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Service provided "as is"

The Village is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, and is currently offered as an early-stage (beta) service. We do not guarantee that any care request will be filled, that any particular person will respond, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. The Village helps you coordinate care among people you choose and trust; it does not provide childcare itself, does not employ or vet caregivers, and is not responsible for the conduct of the people you invite or interact with. You are responsible for your own decisions about who cares for your children.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Village is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, or from arrangements made between users of the service.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the service. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
